UConn’s Materials Advantage chapter (UCMA) applauds six new officers after their annual election Thursday February 16, 2017, as they look forward to a year of exciting events. The officers and ranks will be implemented next semester, and are as follows:
President: Kenna Ritter, fourth semester MSE major and current secretary of UCMA
Vice President: Hetal Patel, fourth semester MSE major
Treasurer: Jordan Gomes, fourth semester MSE major
Secretary: Brittany Nelson, fourth semester MSE major
Outreach Chair: Victoria Reichelderfer, second semester MSE major
Undergraduate Representative: Bert Lu, fourth semester MSE major
Social Chair: Amanda Giroux, MSE
The UCMA officers are currently planning some industry tours for members, including one at Ulbrich Steel, one at Stanley, and possibly one at the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, all in the coming year. They are also preparing for the annual Material Science Networking Banquet that will be held March 23rd.
UCMA Student Chapter is a professional organization for undergraduates interested in MSE or Materials Science in general. Their focus on career development opportunities and educational outreach events about Materials Science, and is the student chapter of the national Materials Advantage community.
